“The Art Lover’s Suitor”

Before there were galleries, the art lover kept all of the world's best work safe in her house. And while she was surrounded by their beauty, she wanted more in her life. A suitor came and tried to woo her. In the end, he dropped his affections in a letter as he walked out. He could not compete with the work of the masters.

All of the paintings in the illustration are from famous artists such as Degas and Van Gogh. The stain glass design over the door is modeled on Alphonse Mucha's interior design motif.
