“Lover of a Star”

There’s a saying that love can make men foolish. The prince of a distant land proved that true when he fell in love with a star and tried, in vain, to make her stay with him.
Partly inspired by Neil Gaiman’s, “Stardust,” this small pen and ink illustration depicts a star and her earthly lover. The star flowers (Trientalis borealis) in the background hint at the star’s heritage while the Renaissance clothing adds a Shakespearean charm.
