I’m Megan, the artist behind Studio MME.  I believe that the world is full of wonder and if you look for it, you can find joy and magic everywhere!  I also believe that YOU feel that same wonder, though it may just be a small ember.  I believe my work can rekindle your wonder and make your world (and outlook) more magical.

When we were little, everything was magical and a sense of adventure filled the air.  All we needed was a smile and a few Oreos and we could make friends with anyone, even the neighbor’s dog who ate mittens.  I’m on a mission to rekindle wonder in adults who are still, in their hearts, the kids they were all those years ago.  Residing in me personally, is a little girl who decided a snow tiger was the best thing to be on a wintry Halloween.

If you’d like to say hello, shoot me a question, or inquire about a custom piece, you can email me at megan@studiomme.com.  You can also find me on Facebook and Twitter.

You can read more about the mission of my work in my blog post: I Believe in Jackalopes and So Do You!

How I Became Studio MME:

When I was little, my parents supported my dreams of being an artist and encouraged me to earn degrees in art and English.  There was only one stipulation: I had to start my own business before I graduated.

I kept that promise and after graduation packed up my belongings and moved from North Dakota to San Jose, California, where my boyfriend was accepted into the graduate photography program.  For a while I worked part-time at Borders bookstore but soon after they declared bankruptcy and I was out of a job.

I took that as a sign to focus on my own business.  What started out as a promise to my parents is now a promise to you!  My goal is to rekindle the wonder each of us had as children.  When we’re little, everything is magical, be it a cardboard box or a pair of binoculars.  I draw so that you can feel that magic again.  So that your face can light up with wonder when you discover the secret stories in each illustration.  I also make sure that the secret story gets passed on with the illustration so that you can share it with others.  In that way, the wonder spreads!

Frequently Asked Questions:

How long does it take to complete an original?
My illustrations generally take between 10 and 20 hours to complete.

What type of pen do you use?
I almost exclusively use Rapidograph pens.  They were originally made for architects and draftsmen but over the years as CAD programs took over, very few people use these technical pens anymore.  I think in the very near future I’ll have to stock up because I foresee them going away completely soon.

Do you have a degree in art?
I sure do!  I graduated in 2009 with a degree in art, emphasis in drawing, and also a degree in English, emphasis in creative writing.  Ever since I’ve been merging the two to create narrative works of art.

I see you’re from Fargo, North Dakota.  Do you have a crazy accent like in the movie?
The majority of that movie was not filmed in Fargo and the accent is a complete exaggeration of how old people in North Dakota talk.  Occasionally an, “Uff Da,” or, “Oh for sure,” will come out and my boyfriend will promptly point it out.  But no, we don’t talk like that at all.

Can I feature you on my own site/blog?
Sure.  Please let me know ahead of time so that I can check it out and tell others about it.  Also, be sure to link back to me.  All works are copyrighted.

How do you ship your artwork?
I ship everything USPS First Class with bubble envelopes or stay-flat envelopes to ensure it safely arrives at your door.  All of my prints are wrapped in cellophane and come with a mat board backing.

Why buy limited editions?
Limited editions are collector items.  I can ONLY print 100 of each.  After that, no matter how badly I want to print it, I can’t.  You’ll owe a rare piece that’s signed by me and be able to brag to everyone who comes in your home that you’re a real art lover.  Limited edition prints are also the BEST quality print you can get.  Printed with archival inks on archival paper, they’re guaranteed to last 100 years without fading or yellowing.

Do you have a return policy?
If you have any problems with your purchase, please contact me right away and we will work out a solution.
