I’ve done some crazy things before but embarking on a ‘relaxing’ vacation on Friday the 13th ranks near the top.  I could tell you about the vacation in detail but instead I’ll share this atrocious poem that composed itself during the 3 1/2 hour car ride home (this was before the point where we mysteriously switched highways and ended up in yet another California traffic jam).

Without a thought for bad luck,
We promptly got stuck
In traffic for 5 and a half hours.

But we toiled along,
Singing many a bad song
And finally arrived in the woods.

We swore the next day
Would go a whole different way
But that didn’t happen at all.

We got lost on a trail,
Our granola bars were stale,
And the sun was way too hot.

We had lunch at the ocean
Until seagulls caused a commotion
By jumping onto our car.

In the end we were beat
And swore not to repeat
A trip on Friday the 13th.

I have no idea why but when we finally got home, all I wanted to do was clean.  Perhaps it was to get rid of the copious amounts of dog hair that our German-speaking, German Shepherd pup had left behind or maybe it was the nice swing of hormones that comes each month.  Either way, our apartment has never been so clean!

It was also time for me to celebrate the mid-year point by changing up my bulletin board.  My working space now sports an adorable chair print from Michelle Maule and an amazing inspirational print from Jessica Swift.  I can’t think of a better way to work than surrounded by great artwork.

Did you have any bad luck on this past Friday the 13th or was it just me and my boyfriend?
