Little Known Norwegian Sports
It’s sad to admit but lately I haven’t been drawing as much as I should be. So I made a resolution (that I’m actually starting before January 1st) to set aside 2 hours every day to work on a new line of work. This is my first full week with this new schedule and the ideas are already flowing out of me.
I started a series of small postcards of little known Norwegian national sports (made with maps of Norway collaged in the background). I bet you didn’t know that there is a huge competition every May in the Laplands where reindeer and their herders gather to participate in the annual Reindeer Kite Flying Cup. The larger the rack of antlers, the more kites they can fly!
In the smaller lakes of Norway, when the summer sun melts the ice, lemmings participate in their own set of Lemming Diving games. The one who can jump furthest and make the biggest splash wins a pile of lingonberries.
There are two more Norwegian sports postcards in the works plus a portrait made of maps! I can’t believe how many illustrations I can create when I actually put my mind to it. Haha.

Can't get enough of my embroidery patterns?

I may know how to sew but illustration/drawing baffles me. You do such a great job!
Megan, these are awesome! Would love to purchase the postcards, if they are ready. We have some Norwegian friends and they would be thrilled!!!
Have a wonderful 2013.
